Mission statement

吾道一貫(Go Dou Ikkan)is derived from the 吾道一貫(Go Dou Ikkan)is derived from the Analects of Confucius about 吾道一以貫之 “All-pervading Unity” which means a way of developing the human ideal personality through the concept of 仁(じん)(Jin)(Benevolence) or 忠恕 (ちゅうじょ)(Chujo)(Sincerity and Devotion).
The 仁(じん)(Jin) (Benevolence) which is construed in modern times, means acting with goodwill as a member of society. These specific actions turn into忠恕 (ちゅうじょ) (Chujo) (Sincerity and Devotion). 忠恕(ちゅうじょ)(Chujo), 忠 (ちゅう)(Chu) means being sincere and devoted, concerns the “Self”, and 恕(じょ)(Jo) means being benevolent. This means living a life with compassion and enlightenment.
The main social responsibility of a human being is to know how to discipline himself/herself without causing trouble to his fellow individual. However, if you achieve this, it does not mean you have accomplished all your social responsibilities. In other words, 忠(ちゅう)(Chu)is to practice self-judgement and to contribute to the society in accordance with different point of views. However, humans are not perfect beings, so there are such cases that humans are not enough to fulfill all our social responsibilities. If it is only for the sake of ourselves, strict self-reflection and self-improvement must be accomplished. However, if it is for the sake of others in unexpected circumstances that there is no other way, you should look for a way that both of you will benefit as human beings and as fellows without blaming imperfections. This is the spirit of 恕 (じょ)(Jo).
The founding of Myojo Gakuen School Corporation Urawa Gakuin High School is based on its main objective which is nurturing the people by being united and by being sincere and devoted to others.

School Precepts

克己 仁愛 共生
克 己

克己 (こっき)(Kokki) is to control the self-centered (egocentric) desires in life and serves as means to live as a member of the society in order to live with other people harmoniously. It is being established by different roles that exist and must be shared in a particular time and place. In order to have a harmonious social life, we must know the time, place and our stand points in order to take appropriate actions.

仁 愛

仁愛 (じんあい)(Jinai)means being aware that you are being supported by many people and understanding that you also support your fellow. As a member of the society, it serves as a motivation to have a harmonious relationship with other people. Humans cannot live alone. No matter how strong humans are, humans cannot grow stronger by themselves. The support of other people is important for each person’s life.

共 生

共生 (きょうせい)(Kyousei)means coexistence. All human beings are desired to have a harmonious coexistence with a sense of camaraderie. Humans stabilize their life with cooperation in order to build a harmonious society. Humans pursue their dream by taking a hand from the people around them. On the other hand, whatever a person might have accomplished or currently possesses, it is not considered as genuine happiness. Genuine happiness is the accomplishment of something through cooperation. Moreover, happiness is the prerequisite of the attainment of a meaningful life. Genuine happiness is the harmonious coexistence in the society.

In other words, it is having abilities such as interpersonal skills, empathy, problem-solving skills, critical-thinking skills, etc. Our school provides students various opportunities to improve their life skills through wide varieties of school events such as interaction with people in Ishinomaki and Higashimatsushima in Miyagi Prefecture—the affected areas of Great East Japan Earthquake, and exchange programs to where domestic war lasted for a long time. These are the essential parts of our Life Skills Education.
